I wanted to take this opportunity to remind all teams of two safety considerations when going afloat. The RS Venture Connect Class rules state that gas inflatable lifejackets are NOT permitted to be worn by sailors in the boats. If you do not have a soft PFD (Buoyancy Aid) with you then please ask Adam and his Oman Sail team on the pontoon for one. Coachboat drivers are reminded that, in addition to a PDF needing to be worn (Gas Lifejacket or Buoyancy Aid), the use of kill cords / engine cut-off lanyards is mandatory when the engines are on and in gear. Any coachboat driver who needs to be reminded more than once of this rule will have the keys to their powerboat taken away and will NOT be eligible to drive a boat for the remainder of the event. Safety of all event participants and staff from the Organizing Authority is our primary concern. Thank you for your ongoing support.

Dear All, After the majority (not all but most) of teams who I spoke to after dinner tonight indicated that they would like to spend more time eating outside while here at the event in Oman and not indoors in an air-conditioned hotel room, the decision has been made, from tomorrow morning onwards, we will revert back to the 'standard' food venue of the restaurant and the outer terrace area. It is suggested that teams who may originally have struggled to find tables suitably placed to accommodate wheelchairs, should look to arrive at / 'come down' for breakfast a little earlier so as to guarantee a wider choice of seating locations. Thank you to all those of you that provided me with feedback tonight. As I have said to everyone over the last days, your feedback is important, and we try to action as many things as we can to help you experience an event to remember...for all the right reason! Hi Everyone....I hope that all of you got some positive take-aways from the on water and off-water activities today and these learning points will be used tomorrow. We are getting there with the boats and we will have another go at fixing some remaining issues tomorrow morning. We have come up with a plan for tomorrow and here it is: Meeting for all teams at 10:00 in the same place as this morning. We will separate teams into 3 equal sized groups, with group 1 being all those teams that did NOT get out on the water today and groups 2 and 3 being made up of the rest of the teams. Please can all teams with sailors that require a hoist make sure that they state this requirement at the coaching sessions briefing as this information is super important for the team. Group one will go to the pontoons at 10:30 where the boats will be waiting with sails p and sail for around 2 hours before coming back in. Group 2 will launch and also sail for 2 hours, followed by group 3 who will come back in no later than 17:30. A de-brief session will take place on the large flat paved area located between the 2 hotel buildings as soon as all teams in group 3 have exited the pontoon. The dinner buffet will start at 18:30 in the same location as today. Any questions on this plan, please contact Christoffel.

This is due to the hotel being full and the hotel management are keen to ensure that any wheelchair users are guaranteed to find a table that they can comfortably 'sit' at. This is decision has made off their own backs to help us and I would like to thank them for this very kind offer, and I am sure that we will all benefit from this venue from a social perspective. Some teams who have chartered coach boats for the event have kindly offered to take team members (coaches / sailors) of other teams who have not chartered coach boat (RIBs) during the Coaching Clinic days so as to help get more teams on the water this afternoon and tomorrow. This offer is very much appreciated, and I suggest that, for those teams whose sailors are able to transfer from a RIB / Coachboat to an RS Venture Connect sailboat on the water, to raise their hand (yes...just like school when you want to ask the teacher a question) or shout out at the combined Coach / Sailor briefing at 12:40 and ask if any team is able to take them on the water this afternoon. I appreciate that teams who have booked coachboats / RIBs will want to have these boats for themselves during the practice day and the main competition event so all I am asking for is help for today and tomorrow. After that, you can go back to having your own 'private' coachboats / RIBs so as to pass on top secret coaching tips to your own sailors. Thank you in advance to all teams who are willing to help those who did not have the ability to charter a coachboat.
