I followed the link, but can only see a point of sail "game", no rules applied and only a single boat.

I only display a blue empty jamboard, no boats.

@ravecca
would you confirm registration with personal data is required on the platform before starting to play?

I only see one boat, you can rotate the bow to see points of sail but there is no way to add a second boat or see applied racing rules.

Strange. It was working for me with 2 boats all morning on my iPad. I agree …but now it’s only showing one boat now.

I did not need to input/register to use it.

Hi, sorry about that. It is fixed now.

Other project was overriding the racing rules one. It is a gdevelop platform bug.

It is a work in progress.
No user registration / login / etc required, it is only a playground with the intention to become a tool for teaching, and will stay as is, no paywall / user registration wall. Just an online 'game'.

The way to use it is very straight forward, try to drag the boats, select and rotate. Pinch / zoom in tablet is working but still not sure how good that is. Better to have a landscape big screen.

Rules 15 and 17 still with bugs not deployed yet.

Thank you for your patience!

I think this would be very useful.  You're off to a good start.

Could you add the text of the rule in smaller font below the Heading of the Rule?

So rather that just "Rule 10 - On Opposite Tacks" include below "When boats are on opposite tacks, a port-tack boat shall keep clear of a starboard-tack boat."

I know the Red and Green dots state which boat has right-of-way and which must keep clear, but the text would help also.

Whilst it is kind of cool to see the rules whilst moving the boats, specially the obligations.... it is kind of encouraging users to put the boats in the position to get the rules outcome they want.
It would be good to have a mode where the rules are not being calculated, letting users put the boats in a position, and then click a button to get the rules.

Thank you all for the feedback and time to test it. It is really challenging to translate the rules logic to hard coding logic, but I think there must be something to be done to help the teaching dynamic specially with little kids and rules.
I will update when finally get running 15 & 17, and yours suggestions for testing, and also I will post some glitch in logic I can not resolve.

Thank you all again for encouraging comments and time spent.

Question:  Is the starboard boat ALWAYS at fault in a port-starboard crash?  I was in a race and an out-of-control boat swerved in front of me while I was on port and I couldn't swerve out of his way. I was on port but he veered into me while tinkering with something in his cockpit.

Carlton, quickly look at rule 16.1. But that’s not the topic of this thread so let’s not swerve this thread off topic fiddling with rule 16. :-)

Thanks. I get it:  Racing Rules Playground, which sounds general, is very specific.  Kind of not a playground, but a slide or teeter-totter.  Cheers!

https://gd.games/ravecca/racing-rules-sailing

- Added rule 15 and rule 16 interaction.
- Added MNA selector.
- Added suggested rule text body.
- Playable on tablets and bigger landscape screens.
- Touch / click boat to activate, then drag / rotate.

This is a work in progress, there are still several known bugs... and yes, UX UI will be improved.
Thank you for your patience.

If you want to add your MNA translation send me your pdf rules book link.

Hi Diego,

That's a neat looking App.

I particularly like the drawing module, which runs smoothly using gestures on tablet/phone.

Would there be any chance of stripping out just the drawing module into an App?

We recently had a discussion about Web based whiteboard tool for RRS reviews, but the app there really needs a mouse.

Thank you John for your suggestion. I first want to finish this tool objective, but I appreciate very much your idea.

Last changes / improvements:
- Added BRA, ITA to MNA translations.
- Added RESET button to restart boats positions.
- Added Mouse middle wheel up/down zoom (also with + - keys) and mouse middle wheel click / pan.
- Added pinch zoom / pan for touch devices.

Known issues :
> Rule 15 is not triggered properly on the first interaction and is still not working on all cases.
> Windward Leeward definition not good on some cases.
> Pinch behaviour uncertain.
> Rule 17 still not there.

Ok, thank you all for your comments, this will be the published first test version.

https://gd.games/ravecca/racing-rules-sailing

Last changes:
- Rule 15 working as expected.
- Rule 17 added.

User interfase needs to be redesigned.
Changed to right side Right Of Way rules and to left General Limitations.

Bugs:
- After pinch zoom on tablet, and rotate a boat, boats disapear randomly.
- When boats are overlapped, windward / leeward definition needs still to fix the logic on edge cases.
