CHATGPT - tool with the complete RRS and Casebooks !

Not aware if this has been published on the forum already.
Recently a friend brought to my attention that there has been a ChatGPT tool developped that allows you to enter a situtaion in text in a chronological manner, describing a situation. The tool will then analyze it and respond with all rules applicable and the ROW verdicts.

Pretty sophisticated and definitely nice to have !  Try it yourselves with for instance a simple port-startboard, or a simple downwind mark-rounding.

ChatGPT can be easily installed on your mobile phone and does not require a paid-license.

Have fun and credit to the devloppers !

Warning! Like all LLMs, this one hallucinates bullshit.  My very first query was:
The rules allow a competitor to scull from above close hauled down to close hauled. If a competitor continues to scull down to a beam reach, have they broken a rule?

The response was:
Yes, if a competitor sculls from above close-hauled down to a beam reach, they have broken a rule.

Under Rule 42.3(c) of the Racing Rules of Sailing 2025–2028, “a boat may scull to turn to a close-hauled course but not beyond”. This exception is very specific: sculling is only permitted to initiate a turn to a close-hauled course—not through it or beyond it.

We all know this, but for completeness: Rule 42.3(c) is about pumping in surfing conditions. The correct rule, 43.2(d), does not contain, “but not beyond”

Hi Ric, the complete answer I found on your question is as follows - see below screenshot.
In your opinion what is wrong with the answer?

Interesting, but I tried four different questions about RRS18 and results are always wrong.
It uses old rules (wrong references) and strange explanations.
As usual, no source given

I asked it to explain Rule 18.4. It either misquoted or used an old rule version (at least pre 2020).

The answer is as good as the question I guess - AI tools may always be questionable and are under development. The Rules are the 2025-2028 RRS that were entered. The Case Books I understood are the older versions and updated next version.
Nevertheless - I prefer constructive feedback providing insights for improvementss versus offensive comments. When I asked - Please explain Rule 18.4 it clearly states the RRS version (see below) and if there is something wrong in your opinion it will be helpfull stating what is wrong according to you.....

Only critisising is not helpful. I gave it a few scenarios (as the tool prescribes) and it gave appropriate answers and ffood for thought on the grey areas of interpretation of rules and situations....

Regards - Gijs (and I had nothing to do with building this tool, I just think it is a nice way forward....)

Gijs re: "Nevertheless - I find comments like Bull$!#% offensive. "

I agree and is not tolerated on the forum.  I have emailed Dominique directly and am providing some time for user-edit.

Either way it won't be up there long.  Gijs would you likewise remove/edit the word as I did here?

Thanks
