In order to support virtual hearings, RRS has added the ability to post your virtual meeting link in the hearing location.  So when you set the hearing schedule in RRS, you can past your Zoom link into the Hearing Location.  Better yet, just enter "Zoom Link" in the field then press the link button and past the URL into the link helper.  Because virtual hearings are so new to many people, please give me feedback on whether it works for you or any suggestions you may have.

This is a fine addition to resources for virtual hearings.
Plan to have options when entertaining potential of conducting a virtual/remote hearing.
Consider the following:
Availability of WIFI signal at venue
Adequate bandwidth at venue
Availability of hardware, mobile phone, pad, laptop

A few years ago I was presented with the need to conduct a remote hearing between two USA East Coast event venues with travel to the venue in need of judges not feasible.
No WIFI with mobile phone and pad available.
Solution was conducting the remote hearing utilizing FaceTime.
Race Committee Representative served as facilitator at venue without judges available.
Judges at other venue able to follow procedures as normal, hearing and seeing testimony of the parties and witnesses.

Paul the more electronic race management software becomes available, I can see the time when all of this in race conduct and judging will all be electronic.  There have been many electronic programs submitted by many capable judges that understand programming, however many of them take a different approach.  Some adopt horizonal programs to specific uses and I have seen google, excel, and other used as such.  However for everyone to be efficient in the duties, we need to all be on the same page.

I knw that it seems to be coming together with all the race management to be electronic, and for Judging to be an integrated part of that software.  That will be great when we can get all parties that manage races equally proficient.  It will soon be time for professional training in the use of such a Race Management Software.

I see a time (soon) when all PROs and Judges should have to be trained and tested to a standard in order to be certified in use of the software.

Another consideration would be a Certified Race Software Manager that would also be part of any U S Sailing Race.

Seminars on Race Management Software could be conducted online as well.
