First: the bad news:
The recent escalation of fees for text messaging has risen to the absurd.  We're seeing some text messages costing $ 0.50 each.  I'm not sure how the Telcos justify the charge, but it is clearly not acceptable.  So, effective immediately, text messaging remains available, but we have to charge your event to reimburse the cost.   You can elect to use text messaging when you set up your event (Edit Event).  The charge is USD $35.00 per day, for every 100 competitors imported into RRS.org.  This amount is an average derived from our analysis of the most recent use of text messaging at various events, so you can see it is clearly getting too expensive to support otherwise.  Once you elect to use text messaging, you will see an invoice attached to your event.  A line item will be added to that invoice for each day you use text messaging, so you will see it change over the course of your event.  It will then be due when the event is complete.

The good news:
We have enabled communications via WhatsApp.  This service is through the business portal of WhatsApp, so there is a cost, but you can elect to send communications via WhatsApp (directly to each competitor who elects to receive it) by selecting WhatsApp when you set up your event (Edit Event).  Again, you will see an invoice is created for your event.  It is payable once your event is complete.

Bonus news:
And for those of you paying attention (or care), we've added a new feature to produce Notice to Competitors (thank you Claudio Uras and Roberto Goinavi for the help).  It allows you to add a notice electronically, automatically posts it to the notice board and sends a communication to the competitors that it has been posted.  A very useful feature long overdue.

Thanks Paul,

on the bonus news let me render unto Caesar what is Caesar's: the credit for the proposal of the new Notice to Competitors feature goes to Antonio Rutoli.
I have only contributed the Italian translation of the feature, and some testing and fine tuning with Roberto Goinavi (PRO) at the Italian 420 class youth championship.
Antonio was also testing in parallel at the Italian youth laser championship where he was jury chair.

Editing notice to competitors from within the application is very beneficial, especially now that we're running paperless events due to pandemic.
I have not measured the saved time and number of saved clicks, but it's significant numbers.
You can forget about editing in word, converting to pdf, uploading and sending a notification out. All is done seamlessly in one place.

Thanks Paul for making this happen
