Penalty Reports

What Penalty Reports Does

Penalty Reports lets competitors electronically submit a report of an on-the-water penalty they have accepted and taken — most commonly a Two-Turns (720) or One-Turn (360) penalty under rule 44. The report is logged, officials are notified, and the protest committee can review and respond. This gives the jury and scorer a complete record of self-imposed penalties during racing without relying on paper forms or radio reports.

Enabling and Submitting

Enable Penalty Reports by editing your event and selecting Penalty Reports in Event Settings. Once enabled, competitors can access the submission form from the Actions menu on the public event pages. They identify their boat, the race number, the penalty type taken, and the circumstances. The protest committee is notified by email when a report is submitted.

Reviewing and Responding

Officials access all penalty reports from the Penalty Reports page in the Event Panel. The reports are sorted by race and sail number. Open any report to review the details and post a response if needed — for example, to confirm the penalty was observed or to note a discrepancy. If the report results in a scoring change, the scorer is notified. The competitor is notified by email and SMS when a response is posted.
