Shared Work Area and Hearing Notes

What the Shared Work Area Does

The Shared Work Area lets every panel member follow the decision as it is being written by the scribe in real time — without requiring access to the scribe machine. Facts Found, Conclusions, and the Decision appear on each panel member screen as the scribe types. This allows the panel to deliberate collaboratively without the scribe reading the text aloud, and lets the Chief Judge review a decision from another room as it is being composed.

Accessing the Shared Work Area

On the Decisions list in the Event Panel, click the paperclip icon next to any decision to open the Shared Work Area for that hearing. The icon is visible to all officials associated with the event. Only the scribe (the user currently editing the decision) can make changes — all other panel members see a read-only live view.

Private Hearing Notes

The Notes section on the same page is private and unique to each judge. Notes you enter here are saved with the decision but are never shared with other panel members or published. Use this area to track your own observations during the hearing — they remain accessible to you whenever you open that decision in the future.
